Ultimate List of Youtube Channels for Deep Learning and Computer Vision

October 6, 2018

I wanted to collect the Youtube channels that have videos about the topics related to Deep Learning and Computer Vision in such a list in order to make them more accessible. Some of the videos cover the basics and some of them give more technical details.

I will add more channels to this blog post when I discover new ones with high quality videos.

The channels are listed below:

1. Two Minute Papers

I have discovered Two Minute Papers this summer during my internship. It is an amazing source to have general knowledge about a research paper. This video series basically gives a quick wrap up about the papers, and they have a lot of videos explaining papers in the field of Deep Learning and Computer Vision. They also have a subreddit called r/TwoMinutePapers where people can share their thoughts about the video series.

How to tell when the technological singularity has happened: Two Minute Papers can no longer keep up with new papers. from twominutepapers

2. DeepLearning.TV

DeepLearning.TV is a great resource for the ones who want to have more knowledge about Deep Learning without diving into the math and code part of it. If you feel overwhelmed by the overly-technical explanations about this field, these course series may be a good start.

3. Crash Course

As you can guess from the name, Crash Course is a YouTube channel which consists of different kinds of series which cover important topics related to several fields in an intense manner. These topics include but not limited to sociology, computer science and statistics. The Computer Science series also have videos about Computer Vision and Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence.

4. 3Blue1Brown

3Blue1Brown is a YouTube channel by Grant Sanderson. He aims to explain the concepts by the help of the animations and to simplify the difficult problems with changes in perspective. This channel also has a video series for Neural Networks.

5. CS231n

CS231n is a course thaught in the Stanford University which is a deep dive into details of the deep learning architectures with a focus on learning end-to-end models for these tasks, particularly image classification. By the help of this course, you will learn to implement, train and debug your own neural network and gain a detailed understanding of cutting-edge research in computer vision.

6. DeepLearning.ai

This is the official YouTube channel of deeplearning.ai. In this channel, you can find a lot of videos related to the technical concepts in Deep Learning that are taught by Andrew Ng. Also, you can find a series of videos named Heroes of Deep Learning where you can learn more about the people who participate in cutting-edge research in this field.

A lot of people wanted to contribute to this list of Youtube channels. Here you can find the ones added by you.

7. Arxiv Insights

Papers can be a bit dry & take a while to read. This channel is to summarize the core take-aways of scientific papers from a technical point of view, and to make them accessible for a bigger audience.

8. Siraj Raval

This channel was mentioned by a lot of people, so I am also adding it to this list. Siraj (the creator of the channel) is on a path to inspire and educate developers to build Artificial Intelligence. From games to chatbots he is trying to teach how to make it all by yourself.

Note: There were also a few people who mentioned that this channel might not be a good way to learn these concepts. If you want to check other people’s opinions on this subject you can see the comments of the threads below:

9. Fast.ai

Making neural networks uncool again!

Fast.ai took this approach and created a series of courses to help people learn more about Deep Learning. You can find out more about these videos on their website: http://course.fast.ai/index.html

10. Sentdex

You can check Sentdex if you want to learn about machine learning and data analysis. The channel has series like Deep Learning basics with Python, TensorFlow and Keras, Unconventional Neural Networks and more.

11. Giant_neural_network

By the giant_neural_network channel, Jon Como aims to make Machine Learning and Reinforcement Learning approachable. Also, the person who suggested it says that “He has a fantastic series for beginners where he explains everything perfectly and with animations. The series is in python and he even has a few episodes where he explains the calculus used in making a NN.”

12. Welch Labs

Welch Labs has resources related to Math, Science and Machine Learning. They make fun and practical short video series with accompanying resources that cover topics from the high school level to the graduate school level.

Here is their motto:

Study hard what interests you the most in the most undisciplined, irreverent and original manner possible.

– Richard Feynman

That’s all for now. I hope you enjoyed this blog post. If you have any suggestions for Youtube channels that cover Deep Learning topics with high-quality material, you can add them in the comments below.
